Goose Island's LDN Block Party is back.  For one-day only, East London is once again to play host to a little slice of America, in a festival to please hops aficionados and music and street art lovers alike.  Hosted by Chicago’s Goose Island Beer Co, be sure to head over to Shoreditch on Saturday 23rd September for what is sure to be the biggest festival of the year for all fans of a nice cold brew.

Five years ago in Chicago, Goose Island closed the road next to their brewery and threw a Block Party for the locals; a party which is now a yearly two-day event.  And that fun came to London last year, with over 1,000 people attending.

For its second year in the city, Goose Island Beer Co promises an event even bigger, even better than the last.  Running from 3pm until 10pm on Saturday 23rd September, the venue will be Old Street’s RED Market, served up with an eclectic mix of music to please festival-goers’ ears too, from live bands to awesome DJs, from the famous to the up-and-coming.

This is a festival that supports the local community, champions incredible new artists, and simply hosts the best of the best of East London.

Headlined by White Lies, the UK’s kings of indie post-punk for the past decade, the band will be drawing from their four album back catalogue.  Supporting acts will include the Glaswegian noise-pop duo Honeyblood, London’s finest golden age rap and soul group The Age of L.U.N.A., the 90’s tinged 2017 buzz-band Superfood, and the guitar-surf-hip-hop brilliance of the Courts.   Goose Island’s resident vinyl-only DJs from Flashback Records will be warming the decks, also.

But that’s not all.  Goose Island promises other entertainment too, such as games, “interactive shenanigans”, and pop-up food stalls to tantalize the taste buds, both as a perfect pairing to the beers on offer and as an alternative when one’s thirst is not being quenched by their sure-to-be-delicious range of beers.  Top-notch food stalls to experiment with, drink in hand, include Smokey Tails, Greedy Khao, Waffle On, Biff’s Jack Shack, and Engine Dogs, as well as other street food offerings with a twist.

However, the beer’s the thing at the 2017 LDN Block Party, so don’t miss the award-winning Goose IPA, 312 Urban Wheat Ale, or the Honkers.  The new Session IPA, Goose Midway will be available to try also, as will some Bourbon County Stout and Sofie.

RED Market is the former site of the art hub Foundry, nestled in amongst the buildings of Shoreditch.  The location provides a multi-level outdoor arena stage, in addition to indoor areas which offer cover should the weather become typically British (i.e. rainy).  Word has it there are some “secret spaces” to be discovered too… We’re twirling our brollies in anticipation.

Advance tickets can be purchased from Eventbrite and up-to-date information is available on Twitter (#LDNBlockParty).  A strictly 18+ festival, ID will be required upon entry to this perfect end to the summer.  Indeed, 2017’s Goose Island LDN Block Party is certain to keep away those imminent autumn blues for that little bit longer, tempting us all with some spirit of Chicago in East London
